Christmas Turkey - small (under 5kg)
Pastured Christmas Turkey
This will be our second year raising Christmas Turkeys and we're hoping for a repeat of last season. The meat was incredibly tender, moist, and flavorsome. It actually cooked an hour quicker due to the health and vigor of the birds.
Certainly for me, the stress of cooking the perfect centerpiece for the Christmas feast can be a daunting prospect. So knowing that most of the work is already done in how they were raised is a real game changer; (no offence to the proud chefs among you) but truly, it's really hard to make our birds dry or dull, they're that good.
They're raised for 4 weeks in the brooder until they can tolerate the elements, then they're released onto pasture with our chickens. They graze our meadows, eating the bugs, grass, herbs, and a healthy amount of spent grain from local breweries and a supplement of high protein crumb. So that by the time we get to December, they have lived a full life on pasture and are vigorously healthy when the time comes.
Once the big day arrives, we process them on farm with pretty much zero stress and absolutely no suffering (no traumatic lorry journeys or massive slaughterhouse for our birds). We then prepare and pack them for you in our on-farm butchery, and we can either deliver to you for free or you can collect at your convenience.
How it works
You pre-order your birds here, choose the size you'd like, select the correct pre-order week (christmas, obvs) and relax, nothing more to do now until December. We'll automatically take the £50 deposit on the next payment run following your order,(usually every Thursday), and you pay the rest in December.
We raise them for you, then once they are ready, we'll process them and place them onto the order manifest for that week. We will automatically add the remaining cost of the bird to your account at a rate of £22/kg (so a 5kg bird will cost £110, minus the £50 deposit, and you'll pay £60 at collection/delivery).
You can choose to add any other items for your Christmas feast; Hams, chipolatas, pigs in blankets, veg, and a selection of goodies from our local suppliers.
Our delivery day will be the 22 Dec, or you can collect from the farm any time from midday on the 21st - 4pm on the 23rd December.
We've decided to only raise 40 birds this year, so if you want to secure a Bramblewood Christmas Turkey, be sure to order soon. We expect all our birds will all be reserved by the Rosemains Autumn market on 27th Sept.
